The SCUM Manifesto
The SCUM Manifesto (aka the Society for Cutting Up Men), written by Valerie Solanas, has an extremely amusing outlook on the relationship between women and the world. Of course, it is arguable whether Solanas wrote the piece to be serious or satirical, but in reference to society today it doesn't make a difference. Either way, the manifesto expresses an ironic structure in comparison to female reactions. We may think that Solanas was being ridiculous when she argued that women should "overthrow the government... and eliminate the male sex", but her attitude wasn't completely off. Lets face it, women can be extremely hormonal, and usually they react to the male sex with drastic emotions. In Solanas writing, she not only criticizes the way that men act in the world, but the way that the world treats men. Perhaps you can look at the piece as an extremely overdramatic view of the faults of women rather than men. Men are constantly being criticized by women and, although they might sometimes deserve it, the equation goes both ways. Men can't exist in the world without women just as much as women can't exist without men. Yes, men have faults, but so do women, as you can tell by Solanas ridiculous attitude toward the situation. Women can clearly be crazy.

I know that we are always taught that women are hormonal because of our menstrual cycles but do you think that men are also "hormonal"? I know they don't have the kinds of menstruation that we do but they do have hormones like testosterone which is as forceful as estrogen. Something to think about/look into.
