Sojourner Truth "Ain't I A Woman"

I 'ain't' a woman but, I ascribed to the Ain't I A Woman Manifesto by Sojourner Truth.  Growing up with a single mother showed me how woman can be self sufficient and just as strong as men which is what sojourner truth was talking about; that we are engrained to believe that people are different and have different capabilities, but it's that mentality that creates a self fulfilling prophecy. Some women do grow up fully accepting their so called "place" as weaker, and dependent, while it's up to the man to be strong and provide, but what happens when they don't have a man to be dependent on, or just don't want to. We are all capable of doing basic things no one is inferior. There are alot of double standards. While it is polite to help women over carriages or muddle puddles, or more contemporary examples such as open doors or pull out chairs, why should it only be especially for women? It's sort of just a display by men to help them more effectively court women. It's sort of belittling and demeaning.  Why can't we be polite to everyone? Having no rights while still toiling through equal things isn't fair. But it gives me optimism that people do eventually win their rights, and fighting for it is what makes it all the better in the end.
