Psychodynamic Theory

I find Freud's beliefs about the unconscious interesting. The idea that childhood's bumpy experiences internalizes within you, and unable to get rid of it is a little depressing. However, then again I find some truth in that. Traumatic experiences shape us and change us. It is also interesting to think that these childhood experiences, or experiences in general can shape our latent desires. Freud's theories made me realize that we are shaped by society's pressures more than I thought. In class we talked about how society tells us that men should not be attracted to large women. Therefore, someone might have certain desires to watch movies with large people in them or have large friends.
